Pilates Body & MindPilates Body and Mind is run by Penny Brian with classes in the Epping and Broxbourne areas. Classes are small and friendly to ensure quality of teaching and safety.

I am a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA), Europe's leading Pilates organisation. It is internationally recognised and acknowledged for its high quality of training and teaching. 

I am also a level 3 Register of Exercise Professional (REP's), qualified to teach Beginners and Intermediate Matwork Pilates as well as ante and post-natal Pilates.


What is Pilates?

  • Pilates is an exercise method which targets the deep postural muscles, bringing the body into correct alignment and improving posture. It teaches you to use your body correctly so you can incorporate it into your everyday life and activities.

  • Pilates can reshape your body, making it strong yet lean and flexible. It can help to tone particularly difficult areas such as the stomach,arms,bum and thighs.

  • It can improve mobility in joints by using precise, controlled movements which avoid the ligament and muscle damage that may occur with other fitness techniques or sports.

  • Pilates helps to relieve stress by releasing tensions held deep within the muscles, focusing the mind on the precision of the movements.

  • Pilates helps rehabilitate from injury and in particular, back problems. It is increasingly used by top athletes to help with the prevention of injury.

  • Lung capacity and circulation also increase with regular practice of Pilates.

  • Pilates will give you an intense body work out. In order to achieve this safely and effectively, you must master the basics. No matter how fit you are this is a new technique to learn and may be slower paced than you are used to. In time you will appreciate the benefits.

    As Joseph Pilates said:
